Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups - Salt (Coarse, Flake, or Himalayan)

  • 3 TBSP - Fresh Rosemary

  • 1 TBSP - Fresh Thyme

  • 4 Each - Oranges

  • 2 Each - Lemons

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 200º.

  2. Pour salt into a large bowl.

  3. Chop herbs and zest oranges and lemons.

  4. Add herbs, zest, and juice from 2 oranges to the salt and stir to combine.

  5. Pour onto rimmed baking sheet, spreading into a thin even layer.

  6. Cook 15 minutes, stir, then return to oven and continue cooking for an additional 15 minutes or until dry.

  7. Store in an airtight container.

Tips:

  • Be sure all ingredients are fully dried before storing to prevent mold.

  • When zesting citrus, only remove the outer layer of skin and not the pith (white part underneath).

  • Use to season meats, as a finishing salt, or even sprinkle on popcorn.

  • Get creative! Experiment with different citrus and herbs, such as lime and fresh mint. You can even use this as a salt scrub! Just add a carrier oil such as olive oil.
